This glossary is a collection of terms (and their meanings) heard frequently in the daily life of the Controller's Office. Some are specialized, others are more commonplace - and our intent in compiling them is to help MIT staff, faculty, and students conduct their Controller's Office business more effectively.

Office of Record

At MIT, this is the office responsible for maintaining a specific type of source document such as a packing list.

ONR

The Office of Naval Research (ONR) is a research sponsor that conducts audits of MIT procurement practices every three years.These audits, called CPSR (Contractors Purchasing System Review), ensure sound business practices regarding Procurement Management and Administration.
